Jason Segel Performs “Dracula’s Lament” On The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson By Hunter Stephenson/Dec. 16, 2009 6:00 pm EST Last night was the one thousandth episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, but evidently interns backstage failed to inform the ever-emo Dracula of the celebration. And not helping to curb his Transylmania-prolonged depression was the fact that Ferguson’s Wavy the Alligator attempted to chomp his hand-puppet thunder as the ep’s defacto host....

By Peter Sciretta/March 12, 2007 11:04 pm EST Production on Tim Burton’s big screen adaptation of Sweeney Todd has been halted, Johnny Depp has apparently quit acting, and everyone at Pinewood Studios might get fired this weekend if he doesn’t return, according to a British newspaper. Jurassic Park 4 To Feature Dinosaurs With Guns? By Peter Sciretta/Aug. 13, 2007 12:36 am EST BloodyDisgusting reports that Universal Pictures has begun casting for Jurassic Park IV. Apparently the new film involves dinosaurs which have been outfitted with weapons by the US government (presumably for battle purposes). If this is true, than Universal should shut down production right now. It’s one thing to expect such stupidity from the recent batch of direct-to-dvd sequels, but a big budget Spielberg produced sequel?...

Michael Jackson Jokes Trimmed (Temporarily?) From Bruno By Russ Fischer/June 26, 2009 9:50 am EST Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno had its LA premiere last night, and the show went on with a small part of the film exised, according to the Risky Biz Blog. A Michael Jackson-related scene was cut for the screening, showing Universal’s sensitivity to the news of Jackson’s passing. The scene doesn’t actually feature Michael Jackson, but his sister LaToya....
Monsters Vs. Aliens Movie Trailer By Peter Sciretta/Nov. 6, 2008 10:30 am EST Update: A revised trailer is now officially back online. Dreamworks Animation has released the official trailer for Monsters vs. Aliens I had an opportunity to see ten minutes of this film in 3D before Comic-Con, and while I’m not entirely sold on the characters, I will tell you that the 3D in this film is the best I’ve ever seen in a computer animated feature....
Movie Review: SuperBad By Peter Sciretta/Aug. 17, 2007 11:47 am EST I’ve seen SuperBad twice now and I still have not heard all of the jokes. Because SuperBad is one of those movies that you need to see in a packed movie theater. But that also means that you’ll miss some of the jokes. Not because people are talking or texting, that wasn’t going on when I saw the film. But because people were laughing so hard that you would miss the quick follow-up joke comebacks....
Neil LaBute Talks To Famous Directors To Promote Sony’s Latest PS3 Game By Russ Fischer/Feb. 23, 2010 12:04 pm EST Just about the last person I’d expect to see making a short film to promote a video game is Neil LaBute, the theater director who has made films like In the Company of Men, Your Friends and Neighbors and the remake of The Wicker Man. But the team behind Sony’s game Heavy Rain hired LaBute to make a film that explores one of the themes of the game, which is ‘how far would you go to save someone you love?...

Paul Giamatti Wears England’s Crown In Ironclad By Russ Fischer/Sept. 18, 2009 11:52 am EST Months ago, there was word that a film called Ironclad was brewing, which would be an “ultra-violent medieval action thriller” about a Templar Knight who, with a small entourage, successfully withstood a siege by King John of England, younger brother of Richard the Lionheart. Reports had suggested that Paul Giamatti might play King John; now we know they were right, and we’ve got other cast details as well....
Sony Developing Popeye Computer Animated 3D Movie By Peter Sciretta/March 23, 2010 2:50 am EST Sony has announced that they will be bringing a computer animated adaptation of Popeye to the big screen in 3D. The film will be released under the Sony Pictures Animation label, with Sony Pictures ImageWorks handling the computer animation. The real-look Popeye image above is probably far too scary for the animated film adaptation, but I’d much rather see a film featuring the character design of Rick Baker....

By Hunter Stephenson/April 16, 2008 10:57 am EST The X Files: I Want to Believe A friend of mine just said, “It sounds like a direct-to-DVD sequel for Angels In the Outfield.” Not sure what I think, but the title will do a swell job of making the film stand out in the marketplace. Worth a double take and gets the mind spinning....
