First Look Robocop Remake

First Look: RoboCop Remake By Hunter Stephenson/June 10, 2008 6:49 pm EST A teaser poster for MGM’s RoboCop reboot made an appearance at the NY Licensing Show via AICN. While the above art is not a definitive measure of what to expect, it’s our first look at how faithful the character design will remain to the original. Of course, the above RoboCop could stand atop a trusty hoverboard, wear Tommy Bahama shirts or merely be a disembodied head like Jambi....

Gavin Hood Disputes Wolverine Rumors

Gavin Hood Disputes Wolverine Rumors By Peter Sciretta/April 4, 2009 7:47 pm EST I can’t dispute Hood’s claims, but I find it hard to believe, especially considering that the rumors came from varried sources in different outlets. And we’ve seen these kind of power struggles between directors and studios in the past, and it always usually ends with both sides downplaying the reports to the media as the film is getting ready to hit theaters....

Hellboy 2 Teaser Poster

Hellboy 2 Teaser Poster By Peter Sciretta/Nov. 29, 2007 5:04 am EST Universal has released the first of three teaser movie posters for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The first poster features Selma Blair as B.P.R.D.’s resident pyrokinetic Liz Sherman. Nothing really new here, same look as the first film. Truth is, the only reason I’m posting this is because news is really slow this week, and at least this is something....

Imdb Launches Character Profile Pages

IMDb Launches Character Profile Pages By Peter Sciretta/Oct. 3, 2007 2:41 am EST I wouldn’t be able to function without the Internet Movie Database, especially in my job as a movie blogger. And the site doesn’t ever change, throughout the past few year’s the features have virtually remained the same. Well yesterday they launched a new feature: Character Profile Pages. The main features of a character page can include: A character filmography showing all titles in which the character has appeared and by whom the character was played A biography describing the character’s background and optionally covering character trivia points or details of specific portrayals A photo gallery showing all the photos available for that character from the IMDb photo galleries A head shot chosen from the photo gallery to remind you of a specific instance of the character All the quotes spoken by this character from the IMDb quotes database The title of a recent or representative movie/TV show/game in which the character appeared A list of alternate names for the character covering the variations in how that character has been billed in the credits of their titles For example, the first entry is Jesse James, portrayed most recently on celluloid by Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford....

Jason Patric Joins The Losers

Jason Patric Joins The Losers By Russ Fischer/Aug. 14, 2009 11:32 am EST Jason Patric is an actor I’d like to see work a lot more. He’s more choosy than most, and dismissive of a lot of mainstream fare. (Yeah, despite having Speed 2 on the resume.) So Variety’s report that he’s joined the cast of The Losers, directed by Sylvain White, is pretty significant. His presence as the film’s bad guy just upped my interest in the project by a huge margin....

Kung Fu Panda Sequel

Kung Fu Panda Sequel By Peter Sciretta/June 26, 2008 2:20 am EST Kung Fu Panda was the first non-Pixar computer animated film that I really enjoyed. When I saw the film a few months back, I said to one of my friends “This is gonna be huge, lets hope they don’t f**k it up by making a sequel.” Well guess what… A story crew has already begun early work on a Sequel, according to a posting on the TAG Blog....

More Alice In Wonderland Casting I Think

More Alice In Wonderland Casting… I Think… By Brendon Connelly/Jan. 25, 2009 1:23 pm EST I’ve been sent some tip-offs casting for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, and I checked some of it with Peter and found out he’s heard tiny whispers himself. My source is really pretty solid, so I’m going to go out on a limb here. Remember – I’m buying into this 99%, but you don’t have to....

Movie Trailer The Losers

Movie Trailer: The Losers By Brendon Connelly/Jan. 29, 2010 11:43 am EST The first trailer for The Losers has now been unveiled courtesy of MSN. You can see it embedded below the break. What follows is a lightly updated post originally servicing a clip of the trailer, and not the full thing we now have. This film will be a solid rival for The A Team, I think, spinning a similar tale of a wronged bunch of military folk who then band together and use their skills against naughty types....

New Posters The Crazies Shutter Island Daybreakers And Stay Cool

New Posters: The Crazies, Shutter Island, Daybreakers And Stay Cool By Russ Fischer/Dec. 22, 2009 10:45 am EST We don’t have as many big new posters dropping at the end of the year as we do trailers, but a few new images have cropped up for films that premiere early in 2010. It’s mostly horror and thriller stuff, but then there’s a new image for the Mark and Michael Polish movie Stay Cool, the existence of which I’d completely forgotten....

New Star Trek Logo Released

New Star Trek Logo Released By Peter Sciretta/Feb. 20, 2009 8:15 pm EST Paramount Pictures has released a new logo for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, which can be seen above. It is interesting that they’ve now included the light flare into the logo as the aesthetic was used very prominently in the 20 minutes of footage I screened in November. Personally, I think it looks a little plain, especially compared to the teaser logo, which you can see again after the jump....

Revving Up For Religulous

Revving Up For Religulous? By Hunter Stephenson/Jan. 12, 2008 3:32 am EST One summer movie that we have not seen much presence on the Net for is Religulous, June’s pro-agnostic documentary from Borat director Larry Charles and media personality Bill Maher. I think there is a huge market for this film in America, comparable to 2004’s Fahrenheit 9/11 and its wide and diverse theatrical audience (remember all of the omnipresent and simultaneous boo’s and claps in the theater for that one?...

Should Ratatouille Be Nominated For Best Picture

Should Ratatouille Be Nominated For Best Picture? By Peter Sciretta/Nov. 29, 2007 2:00 pm EST Disney/Pixar are contemplating pushing Ratatouille for the Best Picture Oscar at the Academy Awards, but the Mouse House is worried that such a push, might diminish their chances of winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar. As you probably know, Beauty and the Beast is the only animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture, losing to Silence of the Lambs in 1992....

Warner Bros Seeking Writers For Adam Strange And Aquaman Movies By Peter Sciretta/July 19, 2009 7:36 pm EST Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company is producing the Aquaman film (among their 20-30 other projects in development). More people probably are aware of Aquaman than Adam Strange, so why don’t we start with Strange. Aquaman was created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger in November 1941. The sea-based superhero has the ability to live under water and communicate telepathically with sea creatures....

Brad Bird Wonder Takes Time

Brad Bird: “Wonder Takes Time” By Peter Sciretta/April 25, 2007 6:16 am EST I always love a good quote from a great director. Today’s quote comes from Brad Bird, the man responsible for The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, and Pixar’s upcoming Ratatouille: “Wonder takes time. You don’t rush wonder. You have to coax the audience toward you a little bit,” Bird told The New York Times. Bird’s next film, Ratatouille, hits theaters on June 29th 2007....
