One is his co-writing deal with Gus Van Sant, where the pair will chronicle the lives and odd, tragic suicides of artist/filmmaker couple Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake. The other project is another writing gig that we haven’t known much about. But many things become clear during the American Film Market, where indie pics are shopped for financing and distribution....

Festival president Gilles Jacob and artistic director Thierry Frémaux have attempted to get as many of the living “Golden Palm” filmmakers to contribute to this surprise project. What we know: Each participating director has made a 2-3 minute short film....

Eastman has said that three more directors would also direct segments on the animated anthology film. Since that time we’ve learned that Rob Zombie (Halloween) is in talks to join the mix....

Championed by church groups for the story’s Christian values/message, the film was produced for next to nothing and featured a supporting cast made up of volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, most of whom had no prior acting experience. As you may expect, the resulting film has a lot of unintentionally funny moments, and Video Home System has compiled the funniest scenes into one 5-minute video....

For the last year he’s been going around saying he is working with an unnamed big director on a pitch for Superman. While I’m not against the idea of a Millar-penned Superman movie, I just don’t believe it. But Millar keeps on talking to anyone who will listen, and this time tells Empire Magazine that his pitch is for an 8-hour saga told over the course of three films, each which he hopes would be released one year apart....

New Avatar Trailer In Theaters This Friday By Peter Sciretta/Oct. 20, 2009 9:46 am EST And as I mentioned in today’s Page 2, The Hollywood Reporter says that Avatar will premiere on “about 3,000 3D screens in about 2,700 theaters.” The tradepaper predicts that the film is “expected to open north of $75 million.”
