You might also have seen the 2004 TV adaptation which, as L’Engle reviewed, really wasn’t very good at all. Now a group is having a go at a feature adaptation, spearheaded by producer Cary Granat. HBO Picks Up Scorsese’s Series Boardwalk Empire By Russ Fischer/Sept. 2, 2009 1:30 pm EST Variety reports that HBO has picked up eleven episodes of Boardwalk Empire, which features Buscemi as Nucky Johnson (hey, it’s the ’20s!), a businessman turned rum runner during Prohibition. The film has made $528,535,317 domestically (just $72,252,871 below Titanic’ record) and $469,000,000 overseas.
