Star Trek Sequel Announced By Peter Sciretta/March 30, 2009 8:40 pm EST Paramount Pictures is moving forward with development on a Star Trek sequel, hiring Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof to pen the screenplay. Lindelof produced the first film but has been brought on to reteam with Kurtzman and Orci, with whom he is currently co-scripting DreamWorks’ Cowboys and Aliens. Kurtzman told Variety that they will wait to see what fan reaction is to the first film, which hits theaters on May 8th, before proceeding....

Director Moo-hyun Jang and independent South Korean animation team Mesai capture this feeling in a 9-minutes animated short titled Alarm. It’s hard to believe that the animation and lighting was created by such a small team. These guys have a bright future ahead of them....

VOTD: Drive-In Movie Theaters Turn 75 Years Old By Peter Sciretta/June 7, 2008 12:38 am EST Today is the 75th Birthday of the Drive-In Movie Theater. Richard M. Hollingshead, Jr. came up with the idea in 1932, conducting outdoor theater tests in his driveway with a screen attached to trees in his backyard and a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of his car. He opened the first drive-in theater on June 6th 1933 on Admiral Wilson Boulevard at the Airport Circle in Pennsauken, New Jersey....
