Wolfgang Petersen Off Ender’s Game By Peter Sciretta/April 21, 2008 11:59 am EST German filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot, The Perfect Storm) is no longer set to direct an adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel Ender’s Game. io9 reports that the production, which is now hoping to shoot by early 2009, is on the hunt for a new director. Endger’s Game was originally slated to be released this year. Orson Scott Card is still working hard to tighten the screenplay, while producers narrow down their potential directors short list....

Angelina Jolie Replaces Tom Cruise By Peter Sciretta/Aug. 11, 2008 6:13 pm EST Yes, you read the headline correctly. Angelina Jolie has officially replaced Tom Cruise in Philip Noyce’s upcoming thriller Edwin A. Salt. Kurt Wimmer’s screenplay follows a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy, and must eludes capture while proving that someone else is the traitor. The script will be redrafted to account for the gender change, and the project will be retitled (likely with the name of Jolie’s character)....
