Kick Ass Set Videos Reveal Costumed Superheroes

Kick-Ass Set Videos Reveal Costumed Superheroes By Peter Sciretta/Oct. 6, 2008 12:01 pm EST A bunch of new Kick-Ass set videos have popped up on YouTube, giving us our first real look at the characters dressed in superhero gear. The scene involved Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) and the Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) riding along in Mist’s custom red sports car through Downtown Toronto (near the Toronto Eaton Centre) at night. I’ve included the most interesting/revealing video of the bunch below....

Kick Ass Teaser Trailer

Kick-Ass Teaser Trailer By Peter Sciretta/Nov. 10, 2009 5:52 pm EST Lionsgate has officially released the first teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Kick-Ass. For those of you who haven’t been following this project, the film was produced independently and the first footage won over the thousands of people packed into Hall H at Comic-Con. The story is essentially about an average teenager named Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero....

Medellin Movie Trailer Released

Medellin Movie Trailer Released By Peter Sciretta/July 15, 2007 7:24 pm EST I recently became addicted to the HBO hit series Entourage. One of Vincent Chase’s (the main character on the show) dream projects is a Pablo Escobar epic biopic. The film within the show is going to the Cannes Film Festival, and HBO has released a faux theatrical movie trailer for Medellin. HBO has also created a nice teaser website for the fake film, which can be viewed at MedellinTheFilm....

Rambo Has Critics And Moviegoers At War So What Did You Think

Rambo Has Critics And Moviegoers At War; So What Did You Think? By Hunter Stephenson/Jan. 27, 2008 4:09 pm EST We all know that movie critics and fans of genre fare get along together like a giant serpent and Conan the Barbarian, but the maddening tug-o-war currently raging over Rambo’s merits is ridiculous. Consider: On IMDB, the Sylvester Stallone sequel has a fantastic user-rating of 8.5/10 based on more than 4,000 votes....

Ridley Scott S Forever War To Be In Avatar Inspired 3D

Ridley Scott’s Forever War To Be In Avatar-Inspired 3D By Brendon Connelly/March 26, 2009 12:44 pm EST Which is better, Alien or Aliens? Well, I can answer that one for you – it’s Alien. But Aliens is rather special too. Just not, you know, most-important-film-of-the-70s special. There is now a new chapter in the give and take between Ridley Scott and James Cameron, however. The BFI here in good ol’ Blighty (that’s what the B stands for) had a Blade Runner day at the weekend and while I didn’t go along myself – shame on me – a good handful of reporters were handy....

Semi Pro Red Band Movie Trailer

Semi-Pro Red Band Movie Trailer By Peter Sciretta/Dec. 23, 2007 3:50 pm EST New Line has released a new Red Band (read: R-Rated or uncensored) movie trailer for Will Ferrell’s upcoming comedy Semi-Pro, and it actually makes the movie look funny (unlike every piece of advertising that has come before it). Walk Hard suffered from the same problem. Most people were turned off by the film’s advertising. The Red Band trailer was funny but very few people saw it, and even fewer bought a ticket to Dewey Cox this weekend, which is a shame....

The Final Destination Movie Trailer Death By Nascar

By Peter Sciretta/June 4, 2009 1:28 pm EST Final Destination 4, which has been given the more-confusing-than-clever title The Final Destination, now has a movie trailer. The first movie was built around an airplane crash, the second movie revolved around a highway accident, the third movie involved a deadly roller coaster ride, and now the fourth movie takes us to a Nascar track where the race becomes deadly. Yes, it is just as stupid as it sounds....

This Week In Dvd Blu Ray Inglourious Basterds The Hangover And More

This Week In DVD & Blu-Ray: Inglourious Basterds, The Hangover, And More By Adam Quigley/Dec. 15, 2009 7:00 am EST We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. “You know somethin’? I think this might just be my masterpiece.” That’s a mighty audacious claim that Tarantino not-so-subtly injects in Inglourious Basterds, his self-proclaimed World War II spaghetti western, but he earns the hell out of it. The film plays like a masterfully calibrated collection of short films, with each lengthy, deliberately paced scene—usually featuring nothing more than a number of characters sitting around a table talking—building up with excruciating intensity until finally reaching a breaking point, resulting in a delirious climax that repeatedly left me an exhausted mess....

Watch This: Skhizein, An Incredible Animated Short Film By David Chen/Dec. 24, 2009 6:25 pm EST I was browsing Reddit this morning when I came across the following description for the short film Skhizein: After being struck by a 150-ton meteorite, Henry has to adapt to living precisely 91 centimeters from himself.
