Office Writers Pen The Low Self Esteem Of Lizzie Gillespie By Russ Fischer/Dec. 1, 2009 12:54 pm EST Brent Forrester, who got his start on The Ben Stiller Show and has been working on The Office for some time, is teaming with fellow Office writer Mindy Kaling (who also plays Kelly Kapoor to great effect) on The Low Self Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie, which they’ve set up at Mandate Pictures. Mandate was the home of breakout hit Juno, so could also be a great starting gate for this story of a woman with disastrously low self-confidence....

Avatar’s Budget Is Almost $500 Million?! Can It Make A Profit? And while Avatar’s buzz has experienced an upswing of late, it’s too early to gauge where the film’s event status sits in the zeitgeist of the general public. I know that personally, my expectations have cooled, but the more I see and hear from smart people, the less I’m worried that this is the Prequels all over again....

Many shots of the Na’vi or Avatars would pass as photoreal, and that’s despite their inherently exaggerated and stylised design, all Tezuka eyes and slim-Jim cat-monkey physique. The geography, flora, fauna and overall background work is routinely within a hair’s breadth of utter perfection and should not be faulted, even though a small handful of shots look very disappointing in the context of the whole film....
